PHILOSOPHER OR PRESIDENT?

Iranian president Mohammad Khatami's speech which was couched in erudite philosophical terms in Annual Meeting of World Economic Forum in Davos,Switzerland 2004,seemed to draw a thoughtful response from Davos delegates. "I think he made a good impression," Harinder Kohli, CEO of Centennial Group Holdings, a Washington-based policy advisory group, told NEWSWEEK. "It was an unusual speech, but the main thing is not what his words were, but the fact that he came here at all."

British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw also praised Khatami's speech as an "extraordinarily broad canvas" that "says something about the breadth of [his] intelligence." "He was right to say that democracy was a human experience, not a Western invention," Straw told the bilateral meeting.

STICKING TO HER GUNS

UPN.COM : The prospect of appearing nude turned out to be the Achilles Heel for the first model to be eliminated on the season premiere of AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL. Anna Bradfield, the 24-year-old housewife and mother from LaGrange, Georgia, chose not to appear in the first photo shoot covered only by jewels and body paint. Even though Jenascia, the 21-year-old waitress from Burien, Washington, was over two hours late for the shoot, the panel of judges could not overlook Anna's attitude and refusal to participate in the first shoot and eliminated her from the show.

About 39% of the online visitors of the contest voted that she'd done the right decision and I am one of them.
If you remember,I had admired Kadi Tombak for her beautiful description of beauty; Now I admire Anna for standing up what she believes in.She's reached to such a high level of thinking that she knows after giving birth to her baby, she's not only for herself anymore; She knows that maybe someday she will have to explain to her child why she decided to pose nude in front of cameras and other people. So she made up her mind and made that rational decision.I don't know this as a achilles heel;I know this as an outstanding glory that is rare in modernized world of today;Congratulations to anna's husband for having such a wife;Congratulations to anna's child for having such a mom;He/she will definitely be proud of the mom in the future; And finally I should express my deepest respect and pleasure to Anna herself. From my point of view,Anna you're the winner, not other contestants like Sara Racey-Tabrizi,who's got an iranian origin.Congrats Anna ! Good luck !
